Between the Pages

As I shared with Necessary Arrangements, each story I write ends up with an unintentional soundtrack. This was my basic playlist for Baggage Claim:

  • Bittersweet Symphony – The Verve
  • Touched - Vast
  • I Wonder – Chris Isaak
  • The Littlest Birds - The Be Good Tanyas
  • The Middle – Jimmy Eat World
  • You Can't Always Get What You Want – Rolling Stones
  • Once in a Lifetime – Talking Heads
  • Immortal - The Cruxshadows
  • All Along The WatchTower - Bob Dylan
  • Jaded – Aerosmith
  • Let My Love Open the Door – Pete Townshend
  • (Don't Fear) the Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

Did you know….

A lot of people ask me where I get the ideas for my books, and Baggage Claim was inspired by my youngest child. Or, more specifically, her Hello Kitty!™ lunchbox. The novel is about two Atlanta women who seem to have nothing in common except similar suitcases, which they accidentally switch upon landing in Houston. Their first meeting spirals into unlikely friendship and eventual life changes. This stemmed from the afternoon my daughter opened her lunchbox to discover it wasn't hers at all, but rather that of another girl. While the contents of my daughter's lunchbox (such as a Tranformers thermos) might tell you a little about her life (she has an older brother and sometimes gets hand-me-downs), the contents of this other girl's lunchbox told a different story. Since I was blessed with an overactive imagination, the story sprang from there, the intersecting paths of two disaparate women whose journeys suddenly become entertwined.
