Book Clubs and Reading Groups

In June, my featured book club to visit is in Canton, GA and I am thrilled they invited me to come discuss Necessary Arrangements. If you’re looking for a good book to select for your group, see below for suggestions. And don’t forget, if you have a reader group in the metro Atlanta area, I’d be happy to come talk about my books with your members. (For groups that are farther away, we may be able to chat via speaker-phone or the Internet. To discuss a reader event, contact me at Tanya@tanyamichna.com).

Looking for a great book to read and discuss? Tanya recommends…

  • The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen. Don’t miss this southern tale of female friendships, including some magical elements and lots and lots of candy.
  • For another take on women forming unlikely alliances, read Isabel Sharpe’s entertaining and insightful As Good as It Got (in stores June 24) about three “inmates” at camp retreat who are about to discover adventure and re-evaluate their lives.
  • And if the members of your reading group appreciate irreverent humor, you won’t want to miss There’s a (Slight) Chance I’m Going to Hell, the debut novel by humor essayist Laurie Notaro, in which a small town misfit enters the traditional Sewer Pipe Queen pageant.
